About TIFFConvert
A focused, privacy-first tool for converting TIFF files.
What is TIFFConvert?
TIFFConvert is a free online tool built around one simple idea: convert your TIFF files quickly, easily, and without unnecessary friction. We support conversion to PDF, JPG, and PNG formats with features like bulk conversion, PDF merging, and quality controls.
Our Philosophy
We believe file conversion should be a utility, not a platform. That means:
- No login • No sign-up • No credit card needed. Upload, convert, download. That's it.
- 100% private. Your files are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
- Completely free. No hidden fees, no premium tiers, no limitations.
- Focused. TIFF conversion is all we do. We do it well.
How It Works
TIFFConvert uses modern web technologies to decode TIFF files and convert them to your desired format directly in your web browser. We use proven open-source libraries for TIFF decoding and PDF generation, combined with the browser's built-in Canvas API for image processing. This means your conversion is fast, reliable, and completely private — your files never touch our servers.
Technical Architecture & Security
Traditional online file converters operate on a cloud-upload paradigm: your sensitive documents are uploaded to a remote staging server, processed by background workers, and stored temporarily before scheduled deletion. If a server is misconfigured or intercepted, your confidential files are vulnerable.
TIFFConvert uses a pure client-side architecture. All decoding, pixel rasterization, compression, and compilation are executed directly in your browser's local sandbox using modern Web APIs:
- 01Local ArrayBuffer Decoding: The file is read from your device into an in-memory
ArrayBuffer. It never transmits over any network socket. - 02Hardware-Accelerated Canvas Rendering: Image frames and multi-page IFDs are rendered using the browser's built-in 2D Canvas engine with native hardware acceleration.
- 03Local Blob Generation: The final PDF, JPG, or PNG is compiled into an in-memory
Bloband downloaded directly to your local file system.
Open-Source Engine & Attributions
We believe in transparency and standing on the shoulders of giants. TIFFConvert is powered by battle-tested open-source libraries:
- •UTIF2: High-performance JavaScript TIFF decoder for reading multi-page IFDs, uncompressed rasters, and LZW compression.
- •PDF-Lib: Robust client-side PDF document generator for page layout compilation and vector embedding.
- •JSZip: High-speed in-browser ZIP archive creation for batch file downloads.
